Our commitments

The Humane Internet Charter — software that serves instead of extracts. Six promises, each with a receipt.

A commitment with no receipt is just marketing. Where one is enforced, a CI gate fails the build if it regresses. Where it is architectural, it is a property of how the code is built. Where we are still building, we say so — honesty about the gap is itself a commitment.

  1. 01 Own

Enforced — no third-party ad/analytics SDKs can be added

    You hold the master copy.

Your data lives on your device first. xNet keeps no behavioral surplus and has no third-party customer to sell it to. There is no ad model; you are not the product.

  2. 02 Exit

Architectural — portable protocol + portable identity

Leaving is your right, and it loses nothing.

You can take everything and go. Identity is a portable did:key that works on any hub; the wire format is an open, signed, hash-chained change log, not a vendor blob; the client works fully offline.

  3. 03 Calm

Enforced — a CI gate bans dark-pattern primitives

We compete for your wellbeing, not your time.

No infinite scroll. No engagement ranking. No streaks engineered around loss aversion. Feeds are chronological; notifications are rule-based. An opt-in reminder even helps you step away.

  4. 05 Agency

    Architectural — scaffold-by-default, provenance-tagged

AI makes you more capable, not less.

The assistant scaffolds by default — it proposes and cites, you write and own — rather than silently doing your thinking. Anything the model authored is marked as AI-generated.

  5. 06 Commons

Building — BYO hub today; owned-audience publishing in design

You own your audience and your space.

Your social graph belongs to you, not to a platform that rents it back. Hubs are user-ownable and federated; a subscriber is a signed edge in your own graph, exportable with everything else.

We deliberately avoid the trap of selling rebellion back to you: no “verified” upsell, no follower-count vanity, no neo-Luddite skin. The goal is ordinary, well-built, honest software — and to prove it.
