Marketplace Terms

For everyone

The xNet marketplace lets you discover and install plugins that extend the app. Some plugins are built by the xNet project ("first-party"); many are built by third parties ("community plugins"). These Marketplace Terms are part of our Terms of Service.

For people installing plugins

• Community plugins are third-party software. They are provided by their authors, not by xNet. We don't warrant them and aren't responsible for what they do.
• You grant capabilities. Before install, the app shows the capabilities a plugin requests — which of your data it can read or write, which hosts it may reach, and any host APIs it uses — and asks for your consent. Grant only what you're comfortable with.
• Plugins run in a sandbox. Community plugins run with only the capabilities you grant. Still, treat a plugin like any third-party software: install ones you trust.
• Your data. What a plugin does with data you grant it is governed by that plugin's author and their own privacy terms, not ours.
• Paid plugins. If a plugin charges, the price, billing model, and any trial are shown before you buy. Purchases may be processed by xNet (via Stripe) or by the author directly, as indicated. Refunds for author-billed plugins are the author's responsibility.
• Removal. We may delist or disable a plugin that violates these terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, or that is reported as harmful.

For developers publishing plugins

By submitting a plugin to the marketplace, you agree that:

• You have the rights to publish the plugin and license it under one of the accepted licenses (an OSI license or the Functional Source License), and your plugin and its metadata don't infringe others' rights.
• You accurately declare capabilities. Your manifest must request only the capabilities your plugin actually needs and describe them honestly.
• Provided "as is." Your plugin is offered to users without warranty from xNet. xNet is a distributor and is not a party to the relationship between you and your users beyond what's described here.
• Your own privacy obligations. If your plugin processes or stores user data outside the user's own data, you must publish and follow a privacy policy that meets applicable law, and you must have any permissions needed to share data with third parties.
• Prohibited content and behavior. No malware, data exfiltration, deceptive capability requests, or content that violates our Acceptable Use Policy.
• Payments and revenue share. For plugins billed through xNet, we collect a platform fee (currently 10% of the sale) and remit the rest to you; you're responsible for your taxes. You may instead use your own checkout ("bring your own billing"), in which case you set and handle pricing, refunds, and support directly.
• Support and updates. You're responsible for supporting your plugin and for the security of your updates.
• Indemnity. To the extent permitted by law, you'll indemnify and hold harmless xNet and its maintainers from claims arising out of your plugin, your content, or your breach of these terms.
• Takedown and revocation. We may remove, delist, or revoke a plugin that violates these terms, is reported as harmful, or poses a security risk — those grounds, and not others. We maintain a revocation mechanism so that delisted plugins can be disabled in the app.
• Ranking neutrality. Plugins published by xNet or its maintainers receive no ranking, placement, or search preference over anyone else's. We rank on the same signals for everyone, we don't sell placement, and choosing bring-your-own-billing over xNet billing does not affect where your plugin appears. The catalog and install path are MIT-licensed, so you can also run your own marketplace and skip us entirely.
